About Our Herd

Hateno Grove Dairy Goats is a small, ADGA-registered Saanen dairy goat herd located in the quiet countryside of South Georgia. We intentionally keep our herd small so that each animal receives individual care, proper attention, and thoughtful management.

We chose Saanens for their calm temperament, strong milk production, and classic dairy strength. Their steady nature and dependable performance make them an excellent breed for both homestead and production dairies. We appreciate their willingness to work, their maternal instincts, and their ability to thrive with proper care and management.

We aim for steady improvement with each generation. A beautiful goat must also be functional. Structure, health, and production all matter equally in our program.

Because we are a small herd, we are able to monitor growth, health, and development closely. Kids are handled regularly so they are comfortable around people and well-adjusted when they leave for their new homes.

At Hateno Grove, we believe dairy goats thrive when management, land, and livestock are in balance. Our herd reflects that philosophy.

Our Land and Stewardship

At Hateno Grove, we believe strong animals begin with healthy land. Our farm is managed with a focus on balance and sustainability. We aim to care for our pastures in a way that supports both livestock and local wildlife. Clean shelter, dry footing, and thoughtful pasture use are part of daily management.

We focus on:

  • Maintaining clean and dry housing
  • Providing adequate shelter from the weather
  • Managing pasture thoughtfully
  • Avoiding overcrowding
  • Supporting healthy soil and forage growth

We believe livestock and land should work together. Birds, native plants, and open space/native plants are part of our environment. We aim to maintain a peaceful setting where goats can thrive naturally.

As a small operation, we can adjust quickly and respond to the needs of both our herd and our land. Stewardship is not a trend here; it is a responsibility.
